What is HDMI certification?

The HDMI Association was established in April 2002 by seven companies including Hitachi, Panasonic, Philips, and Sony. HDMI Licensing Administrator, Inc. is the organization that licenses HDMI technology and is the authorized agent for the HDMI trademark. The process for manufacturers to obtain HDMI technology licensing is commonly referred to as HDMI certification. The HDMI Association's certification adopts a model of membership, compliance testing, and payment of copyright fees.
The importance of HDMI certification.
The characteristics of HDMI's high-definition lossless audio and video transmission have been increasingly recognized by more people. HDMI cables can easily connect computers with TVs, cameras, projectors, and other devices, and are widely used in various scenarios such as home viewing, computer office work, and large-screen gaming.
HDMI can transmit uncompressed high-fidelity signals over cables, which places very strict demands on transmission quality. More and more consumers have higher demands for cable standards and lengths, as well as stricter requirements for cable craftsmanship. Non-certified HDMI cables not only have poor quality but can also cause issues like screen artifacts, flickering, or black screens during use; in worse cases, they may damage interfaces and devices. Products that have obtained legal HDMI certification ensure the quality and standard of the transmitted signals.
The HDMI Association has also established a market supervision department to monitor HDMI products on the market through random inspections and customs checks. The standardized use of HDMI places higher demands on cables and greatly ensures the quality and transmission rate of each generation of HDMI cables.
